Dority writes, “This piece was created in honor of the singer Jonghyun, a staunch supporter of the LGBTQ+ community who passed in 2017. He often spoke about his good fortune in regards to both his incredibly diverse fans, whom he supported in turn, and the positive impact meeting his band members had on him. In this piece, the artist chose to represent the singer monochromatically, intentionally invoking the ‘red string of fate’ folktale, which the singer referenced.”
